Porsche Macan to debut in LA?

Porsche's upcoming Macan compact SUV will reportedly debut at this year's Los Angeles auto show, not at the Frankfurt Motor Show as initially rumored.

According to the UK's Auto Express, Porsche has scheduled the Macan's world debut for November's LA auto show rather than the Frankfurt Motor Show a month earlier. No reason for the switch was given, but it likely has to do with the importance of the U.S. market, particularly in major cities like Los Angeles.

The Macan, which will compete with other premium compact SUVs like the Range Rover Evoque, is expected to debut with all-wheel drive and six-cylinder power. Four-cylinder versions will eventually be offered, but they won't appear until later in the SUV's lifecycle.

Stylistically, the Macan is will adopt the same general design language as the larger Cayenne, albeit with a few more 911 influences. The Macan's compact footprint should lend to a sportier overall appearance.

Following its LA show debut, the Porsche Macan will go on sale in early 2014.
