Swedes to summon former Saab chairman Muller over tax evasion; not considered a suspect

Swedish authorities plan to call former Saab chairman Victor Muller in for questioning as part of their inquiry into potential tax fraud that occurred among some of the now-defunct automaker's higher ups.

Muller isn't considered by the local district attorney to be a "suspect," his sports car manufacturer Spyker said in a statement released to members of the media.

Similarly, a spokeswoman at the Swedish Economic Crime Authority told Reuters that Muller is not considered a suspect but that he will be summoned later this year. Spyker indicated that the executive could go in front of authorities late this summer.

Swedish authorities have already arrested several of the automaker's former leaders, including its CEO and CFO.

The Gothenburg district attorney and the Swedish Economic Crime Authority are investigating whether Saab evaded tax checks in 2010 and 2011 right before it filed for bankruptcy. Muller, who was briefly the face of Saab for its post-General Motors period, was a lawyer in his native Holland during the 1980s.
