Lamborghini builds 2,000th Aventador

Lamborghini builds 2,000th Aventador

It doesn't seem all that long ago that the Aventador LP 700-4 replaced the Murcielago in the Lamborghini lineup, but the range-topping supercar has already amassed 2,000 global sales.

Lamborghini announced on Thursday that its Sant'Agata Bolognese plant has produced its 2,000th Aventador model.

Finished in Nero Nemesis, car No. 2,000 is headed to the garage of AT&T Chief Intelligence Officer Thaddeus Arroyo. An avid Lamborghini enthusiast, Arroyo already owns a Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder.

Launched in early 2011, it took Lamborghini just over two years to build its 2,000th Aventador. In comparison, it took the Aventador's predecessor, the aforementioned Murcielago, four and a half years to cross the 2,000-unit milestone.

Lamborghini is currently building about five Aventadors per day, including the new Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, but is still having trouble keeping up with demand. Lamborghini says the waiting list for either Aventador model is about a year long.
