Jeep celebrates Memorial Day with 2014 Patriot Freedom Edition

In the spirit of Memorial Day, Jeep has revived its Patriot Freedom Edition for the 2014 model year. Originally introduced on Veteran’s Day last year, the Patriot Freedom Edition honors the men and women of the U.S. armed forced with several military-themed extras.

Available only in red, white or blue exterior colors, the Freedom Edition builds on the Patriot’s midlevel Latitude trim level with army-inspired star graphics on the hood and rear quarter panel, 17-inch “Mineral Grey” wheels and an “Oscar Mike” (military jargon for “on the move”) badge on the lower front door.

Inside, things are spruced up with silver accent stitching and a black fabric star logo patch on the front seats.

Like all 2014 Patriots, the new Freedom Edition benefits from an available six-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the 2013’s much-maligned continuously variable gearbox in most model configurations.

The 2014 Jeep Patriot Freedom Edition starts at $22,790 in front-wheel-drive form, while 4x4 models are priced from $26,190 (including destination).

Notably, Jeep has committed to donating $250 to military charities for each example sold.
