Audi announces pricing, economy for latest diesel models

Audi has announced pricing and fuel economy figures for its latest crop of diesel-powered vehicles – the A6, A7 and Q5 – destined for U.S. showrooms.

2014 Audi A6 TDI

Audi's new diesel-powered A6 mid-size sedan will arrive on deal lots with a MSRP of $57,500. The A6 TDI is based on the A6's Premium plus package, which includes luxury features like navigation with Google Earth, Audi advanced key, Xenon headlights and 18-inch wheels.

The A6 TDI is powered by Audi's 3.0L diesel V6, good for 240 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all-four-wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2014 A6 TDI is rated at 24mpg city/38mpg highway/29mpg combined. Despite those frugal economy figures, the A6 TDI is plenty sprightly, requiring just 5.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-60.

2014 Audi A7 TDI
Combining style and economy, the 2014 Audi A7 TDI will list from $66,900. Like the A6 TDI, the A7 TDI is based on Audi's Premium plus package, which includes features like navigation and factory-installed WiFi.

The A7 TDI uses the exact same powertrain as the A6 TDI and returns an identical 24mpg city/38mpg highway/29mpg combined. The A7 TDI also accelerates from 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.

2014 Q5 TDI
Joining the Q7 in Audi's diesel SUV lineup, the 2014 Q5 TDI is set to carry a base price of $46,500.

Using Audi's ubiquitous 3.0L diesel V6, the Q5 TDI returns 24mpg city/31mpg highway/27mpg combined, representing a 3-4mpg improvement over the thriftiest gas-only Q5. Using the same eight-speed transmission as the A6 TDI and A7 TDI, the Q5 TDI can scoot from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds.

The 2014 Q5 TDI will come in three new colors – Maya Brown, Volcano Red, and Lava Gray – and feature unique wheels.

All three of Audi's new TDI models will arrive on dealer lots this summer.
