NBC to air Auctions America events

NBC to air Auctions America events

Well-known collector car auction house Auctions America has announced that its popular California and Auburn Hills events will be aired on NBC Sports Network and streamed live by NBC Sports Live Extra.

The partnership with the Sport Emmy Award-winning television channel will make both events accessible to over 80 million viewers throughout the United States, and it reflects NBC's desire to cover more aspects of the auto industry.  The shows will provide detailed information and images of the cars crossing the block as well as live coverage of the bidding process.

A 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra will play a starring role in NBC's coverage of the California sale that will take place from August 1st to the 3rd.  The two-seater is powered by a Ford-sourced, 289-cubic inch V8 engine linked to a C-4 automatic transmission, a desirable combination because less than 30 examples were fitted with this drivetrain from the factory.  The Cobra spent a couple of months as a factory demonstrator at the Shelby American facility and its life is well-documented until the middle of the 1990s.  Now fully restored, the aluminum-bodied roadster is finished in white with red leather and fitted with a set of eye-catching chromed wire wheels.

Well over 100 domestic and imported classics will cross the block at the California event.  Some of other notable cars include a 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV, a 1953 Buick Super Estate Wagon, a 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS and, surprisingly, a like-new 1956 Citroën 2CV.
