TVR revived by British businessman?

A new report indicates that boutique sports car manufacturer TVR is about to make a comeback after filing for bankruptcy in a British court last July.

Speaking with England's Autocar magazine, former TVR owner Nikolai Alexandrovich Smolensky said that the rights to the TVR name and the blueprints to the firm's existing cars were sold several weeks ago to an unnamed British investor for an undisclosed amount of money.

Although the report seems vague at best, government records indicate that a new company called TVR Motor Cars Ltd was formed at the end of last April by businessman Les Edgar of Dorking, England, and is listed as being "active."  TVR's official website is displaying cryptic messages such as "never say never" and "roaring back," convincing enthusiasts that the brand is about to make a highly-anticipated return.

Many skeptical observers have pointed out that TVR has essentially been dormant since 2006 and rumors of its return have surfaced numerous time without ever materializing for a multitude of reasons.

If the rumor proves true, official details about TVR's return to the auto industry will be available over the coming weeks.
