GM's 2014 models to come with free maintenance

GM's 2014 models to come with free maintenance

General Motors announced on Thursday that it will include a free, two-year maintenance program with the purchase or lease of any eligible 2014 Chevrolet, Buick or GMC car, truck or crossover in the United States.

Good for two years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first, the program includes perks like free oil changes, tire rotations and vehicle inspections whenever called for by the vehicle owner’s manual. The program is also fully transferrable.

The program will be extended to anyone that has already purchased a 2014 model year GM vehicle.

GM CEO Dank Akerson says the program was designed to “kick off our customers’ ownership experience on the right foot.”

“We know that customers who service their vehicles at our dealerships are much more likely to purchase another GM product down the road,” Akerson said.  “It’s all the more important to bring customers to our service facilities for routine maintenance to further enhance the quality and reliability of their GM vehicles.”

GM currently offers a similar program through its Cadillac division and recently offered a free maintenance package for its Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks to spur sales.

Free maintenance programs have historically been reserved for luxury auto brands, but have begun to move into the mainstream over the last couple of years.
