Acura launches value-minded TL Special Edition

Acura is introducing a new trim level for its TL sedan for the mid-2013 model year. Called the TL Special Edition, the new model bridges the gap between the base TL and up-level TL with Technology Package.

Based on the front-wheel drive TL model, the TL Special Edition features a few unique styling upgrades, including 10-spoke, 18-inch wheels, a color-matched rear spoiler and Special Edition badging.

The TL Special Edition is available in four colors – Bellanova White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Graphite Luster Metallic and Silver Moon Metallic. All TL Special Edition models come fitted with a black leather interior.

Inside the TL Special Edition is pretty much identical to the base TL – with standard features including Bluetooth connectivity, power moonroof and an eight-speaker audio system – but does add the Keyless Access System typically found on the more expensive TL with Technology Package model. The system allows the driver lock, unlock and start the vehicle via start button without ever having to handle the key fob.

A 280 horsepower version of Acura's 3.5L V6 drives the TL Special Edition's front-wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2013 Acura TL Special Edition is on sale now with an MSRP of $38,300 (including destination), splitting the difference between the $36,800 base TL and $40,530 TL with Technology Package.

An all-new TL is expected to bow sometime next year.
